There’s nothing quite as rewarding as fixing that broken toaster or toy on your own rather than buying new all over again. The City of Eugene wanted to tap into that accomplished, empowered feeling by launching a series of Fix-It Fairs. Community members could bring their broken items in to have them repaired at no cost by volunteers and professionals for free, or be coached if they wanted to learn themselves.
bell+funk developed the event’s brand, logo and positioning. We created collateral including an animated video, poster, ads, letterhead, fliers, outdoor signage, and social media artwork for the new program.
Fix-It Fair organizers were expecting about 70 people to attend the first of several fix-it fairs. They were pleasantly surprised when approximately 140 came to save their broken items – and we were pretty happy about it, too!
