We like doing good work, with good people.
bell+funk started with a philosophy and a desire to build the kind of marketing agency where we’d like to work. We had each been part of other agencies — Jen in San Francisco, and David here in Eugene — and had a sense of what we did and didn’t like. We put them into our philosophy statement and got to work looking for “good clients to work with on good projects.” And we found them. We partner with clients who provide vital services like public transportation, education, social services, and affordable health care. We collaborate with organizations that promote environmental stewardship and the arts. And we work with people who are working to ensure a healthy and vibrant downtown. Because downtown is our home, too. In the end, we built a workplace in a community that we love. That’s our idea of success.

We also like each other, and that's important in a small office without walls and where job descriptions are seen as loose guidelines.

Jen is the head honcho around these parts – she is also a big research nerd; her happy place would be a room full of puppies and ninety-page focus group reports. Talk to her for more than a minute and you’ll spill your guts: her magical power is being able to interview anybody (hipsters in NYC, tourists in Atlantic City, and burger lovers in Houston, to name a few). In her free time, she mostly thinks about what to make for dinner and if her library books are overdue.

If there’s a local brand you like, chances are: David probably designed the logo. And the brochures. And the business cards. And the website. And probably has dinner with the owner’s family. He has provided design, marketing and advertising expertise for a variety of Fortune 500 companies as well as local businesses of all kinds in his 30+ year career, winning more than 100 graphic design awards. He has been known to vacation. Occasionally.
